July the Fourth

We continued our 4th of July tradition of heading over to the downtown McKinney parade in the morning. Traffic was ridiculous this year, or maybe we just got lucky before. We made it to the street right after the emergency vehicles drove by to start it. Russell loved all the cool cars... if they had thrown out candy, he would have been in heaven. He has never been to a parade that does throw out candy, so no disappointment from him!

It was hotter this year than past years. He kept
touching his shirt and announcing 'I hot!'

Traditional Koford family picture- smaller
numbers this year though!

Bear treated us to come gourmet popsicles... we
ate them as we walked back to the car. It was hot and they
melted very quickly. His last chunk of popsicle fell
onto the sidewalk. It was tragic, and he kept talking
about it the whole drive home.

Later we had a family BBQ out our house. It was delicious and may be a new tradition!

Russell was much braver this year about poppers!

Daddy found some cool 'neon' sparklers for us to try this year. (they looked like regular sparklers for the most part) They took forever to light, and someone decided to stand right underneath the circle of sparkler and lighter. He was kind of freaked when they lit above his head and wasn't sure he wanted to get anywhere near one. He quickly changed his mind, and then we had to keep from being hit this a sparkler 'lightsaber.'

Bakers were able to join us for a bit too!

Then it was time to head and see the big fireworks. There were actually some big ones being set off all around the street of our neighborhood, so we could have just stayed home and enjoyed some shows too. We were actually slightly concerned that our neighbors were going to hit our house with some of their fireworks! I convinced Stephen we needed to go see a real show too...

We have the perfect viewing spot!!

Happy Independence Day!
